Setup a development environment

Might seem like a rather fundamental task but coming from a QA background how development set up their environments has always been a bit of mystery.  Time to solve that.

Important to remember that there is no ‘right’ way so no need to get bogged down in configuring the prefect development environment.

  1. Download CentOS 7.
  2. Deploy using workstation if you have a license; otherwise use VirtualBox (at home)
  3. Install Desktop
  4. Install VM tools

What needs to be installed

  • Uninstall Open JDK
  • Install Java SDK
  • Maven – Install version apache-maven-3.5.0-bin.tar.gz
  • Install git
